About Highline College

Highline College is nationally and internationally recognized as a premiere community college, a reputation earned through the development of an institutional culture that values innovation, globalization of curriculum, and community participation.

About Our Services & Classes

Highline College opened its campus on the current site in 1961 and has provided services for employment training, job placement and follow-along services for students with a wide range of disabilities since the mid 1970s. Since that time our services have grown to include a wider range of educational and employment goals.

Community & Employment Services has been accredited by CARF through June 2017 for the following services:

About Our Staff

Community & Employment Services employs over 60 full-time and part-time staff members to meet the academic and employment goals of our students. The CES leadership team members have an average of 14 years experience per person working with adults with disabilities. They lead a dedicated staff that recognizes each students ability, responsibility, and right to lead a self-determined and self-directed life. We support people in the design and implementation of a person-centered and community inclusive plan that is based on individual desires, gifts, strengths and capacities.

Policy on Conflict of Interest

We, the Management Team of Highline Community College, Community & Employment Services, resolve that no member of the staff employed by the department shall participate in any discussion or have influence on any matter in which he or she or a member of his or her immediate family has potential conflict of interest due to having funding or service involvement as a program participant regarding the matter being discussed. When such a situation presents itself, the employee must announce his or her potential conflict, disqualify himself or herself, and be excused from the meeting until discussion is over on the matter involved. The Manager or the designated chair of the meeting is expected to make inquiry if such conflict appears to exist and the staff member has not made it known.
