For Students

Highline College Community & Employment Services has over thirty years’ experience helping people develop skills and get jobs. We create jobs in all types of industries and businesses in based on the job seeker’s interests and career goals. If you come to us for Employment Services, your services might look like:

Assessment and Discovery

We will work with you to learn about your skills, interests, and needs. In this step, you might volunteer for 2 weeks to try out a new kind of work or take an online career assessment. We will support you to create a career goal. We will work on your résumé and practice interview skills.

Job Development and Placement

Now that you have a goal, we will work with you to find a business that needs someone with your skills. Your Employment Consultant will reach out to businesses to find or create a position that both you and the business will love. Together, we will fill out job applications and go on interviews.

On-the-Job Training

Once you have accepted a job, your Employment Consultant will work with you to learn all the tasks, establish a routine, get to know your co-workers, and communicate with your boss. You will learn how to do your job and need less support from us.

Retention Services

Depending on your funding, retention services may be available to support you long term in your job. That means we will stay in touch with you and your boss to see how things are going. Also, if something changes in your job, we can support you to adjust to the changes.
